- 250g (8¾ oz) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup (150g/5¼ oz) icing (confectioner’s) sugar, sifted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Place the butter in the bowl of an electric mixer and beat for 8−10 minutes or until pale and creamy.
- Add the icing sugar and vanilla and beat for a further 10-15 minutes or until light and fluffy.+ Makes 1 quantity.
+For chocolate butter icing add ½ cup (50g) of sifted cocoa in step 2.
